Basically, your spam filter needs to re-learn...
As an IT 'dog' (you all know what this means in HK 😅), I do learn a few things along the way. So your mailbox filter uses many machine learning algorithms (logic) to learn about your usage and what counts as relevant emails and what is not.
In effect, if you have been using it in 1 location of the world, what it has learnt makes it biased and specialized for the 'knowledge' it built. In HK, you may have many emails about different things in Chinese but once you transpose yourself to Canada, many of these emails become 'spam'.
What to do?
Either you keep your HK email as is and don't change the locale and location, and start using a new mailbox for your new country
or
You may have to regularly check your spam folder for any important emails that end up there, and retrain your mailbox's spam filter again for a few months.
