Canada's income tax system...
For the uninitiated, ie Mr HKer, the tax in Canada is something of a totally new concept. For example, in the UK and HK, you pay your taxes in a tiered way (different income range have different rates) and you pay to only 1 type of tax to 1 entity, ie the government via the inland revenue.
Ah Canada...well, you have to pay your taxes to the Federal Government and the Provincial Government. Think of Canada as a big country divided into districts/provinces and you have to pay to the province and the big country. In HK, if that were ever applicable, you would pay to the "Tuen Mun government" and then the "HK government" for example...
And each province has a different tax rate but the federal government tax rate is standard wherever you are.
